OPHS's Historic Sites and Homes Trolley Tour

Saturday, May 22, 2010, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

The trolleys are going to leave from the Santa Fe Common Strang Station every 20 minutes. The tour is about 50 minutes long, and the cost is $10.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased in advance BY CALLING 913-677-0430. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the tour at the Strang Carriage House Historic Center, 8045 Santa Fe Drive. Free Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee will be available to tour guests at the Carriage House. We will talk about Strang's innovative railroad cars that were the forerunners of our modern diesel locomotives, the first public airfield west of the Mississippi River, and Strang's idea for a suburban community.

The Overland Park Historical Society is dedicated to identifying and preserving the history of Overland Park, Kansas, and the surrounding area. We maintain a large collection of historic photographs and documents which are kept at the society headquarters located in the Strang Carriage House in Santa Fe Commons. These resources, as well as a variety of books, postcards, video tapes, and other souvenirs available for purchase are all open to the public. Our hours of operation are:

  • Tuesday and Thursday from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M.
  • Wednesday and Saturday from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.

Join Us and Pursue History!

We invite you to join with us in researching and preserving the history of our community by becoming a member of the Overland Park Historical Society. Your membership dues help continue the effort to develop and maintain our historical library and archives, provide community programs, and preserve local history.

Members also receive a bi-monthly newsletter, a discount when purchasing items at the Strang Carriage House, and opportunities to participate in special events from time to time.
